Welcome to our wedding website! We're looking forward to celebrating our wedding with you. If it's been more than a couple of years since you've been to Durham, you will be amazed at the revitalization, since it never ceases to amaze us. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email us at us@jackandlenore.org. In the meantime, please peruse the following questions:

How did you meet?

Lenore was a founding member of Splat Space, the Makerspace/Hackerspace, in downtown Durham and Jack visited the space on January 15, 2011. There was a contest for which hackerspaces all around the world were attempting to mail cupcakes to one another and that Saturday was devoted to designing, eating cupcakes, and getting everything ready to mail. Lenore was on the board as PR Officer at the time, so she took lots of photos of Jack and the event in general. We got to know each other better through the Triangle Linux Users' Group, until we finally went on our first date, in August of 2013.

How did Jack propose?

51 years or so ago, Lenore's parents were driving around the traffic circle at one end of Chapel Drive on Duke's West Campus and Lenore's Dad said to her Mom, who was driving, “Well, I guess we should get married.” There was no question, it was a statement, and Lenore always thought it was miraculous that Mom didn't crash into something. Well, on July 3rd, 2017, Jack decided to do the same thing. Lenore picked Jack up from work at the library on West campus and they were driving around the same traffic circle when Jack said, “Well, I guess we should get married.” Lenore looked at him, even though she rarely looks at her passengers while driving, and he was nodding vigorously. “Yes!”

What can we expect to happen on the 14th?

Our wedding celebration will begin at 3pm at Immaculate Conception Church, 810 W. Chapel Hill Street, Durham NC 27701. We expect for the ceremony to start promptly, so plan your travel accordingly. Parking is available at the church. During the liturgy, you can expect an entrance procession, scripture readings, singing (participation is encouraged), and the celebration of matrimony. As Lenore is not Catholic, there will be no celebration of the Eucharist, and the ceremony will conclude after the nuptial blessing.

Our reception will follow at the Durham Arts Council, 120 Morris Street, Durham NC 27701. There will be a cocktail hour with appetizers. That will be followed with dinner, cake, toasts, and fun. You will need to move your car from the church to one of the public parking lots in the downtown area.
